Show Rules

  1. The show is open to 4-H (including pre-club) and FFA members.
  2. All Georgia 4-H and FFA State Livestock Rules and Regulations will be followed.
    • Exception is you may register and exhibit up to five hogs whereas, at State you are allowed to register five hogs but only bring two.
  3. All hogs must have a readable ear tag.
  4. Entry Fee: The entry fee per animal is $30.00
    • Late entries will be charged an additional $10.00 if postmarked after January 8th
  5. Pen Fee: Pen fee is $5.00 per pen
    • 2 pig maximum per pen
  6. Showmanship:
    • Each exhibitor must show their own animal in showmanship. The animal must be entered in the show and owned by the exhibitor.
    • Showmanship classes will be done by grade level with division winners receiving belt buckles.
      • Divisions: Elementary, Middle, High
  1. Weight Classes:
    • Exhibitors must show their own hog in class. If the exhibitor has more than one hog in a class they can have another exhibitor show for them. 
      • This must be cleared with show officials before showing.
    • Animals will be weighed and divided into classes by show officials.
      • After the animal leaves the scales there will be no re-weighs.
    • There is no weight minimum. Weight maximum is 275 pounds.
      • Hogs will be shown lightest to heaviest
      • Barrows and gilts will be shown together.
      • Judge’s decision is final in all classes
  1. Payout and Prizes
    • Amount of prize money will be based on entries.
    • Payouts will be for the following:
      • Showmanship: Payout for Top 3 in each grade. Winners from each grade will come back for division drive. Winner of each division will receive a Belt Buckle.
      • Class: Top 3 individuals in each weight classes along with Grand and Reserve in weight
  1. Pens will be assigned by show committee prior to arrival.
    • Unapproved pen alterations are not allowed.
  2. There will be NO showing off of trailers.
  3. A certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required with the individual identification.
  4. The Newton County FFA Chapters reserve the right to review the rules and make changes if necessary. All decisions made by the Newton County FFA Chapters are final.
  5. Absolutely no refunds will be given.
  6. No dogs shall be allowed in the show arena or in the barn.
  7. Weigh in will be Saturday, January 23rd
    • Weigh in from 7:00am – 8:15am
  8. Barns will open at 6:00am on Saturday, January 23rd.
  9. The show will start at 9:00am with Showmanship. Showmanship will start from 1st grade and under and go to 12th grade.
  10. The Newton County Livestock Program accepts no responsibility nor assumes any risk for injury to the exhibitor or animal due to or resulting from participation in the Hogs of Hazzard Pig Show.
